What’s New in Makeup? Valentine’s Day Makeup Edition

Hello! I’m back again with a what’s new in makeup post! I haven’t done a monthly makeup releases post in a while, but this seems like a very manageable way to get back into it. So, I’m gonna cover Valentine’s day makeup and recent February releases.

Colourpop Secret Admirer Collection

Here’s a large collection from Colourpop in time for Valentine’s day. This collection features a 9-pan palette (with their typical, smaller pans), blushes in their outrageously popular heart shape, and several lip cremes. In addition, they have these cute hair clips that look exactly like sugar candies, a body powder/dry oil from Sol body, and a Fourth Ray Beauty trio. The mini hairbrush is a new accessory, and the head is shaped in a heart.

This is a pretty cute collection and the details certainly make it pop! The palette has two heart-shaped pans, and the blushes are to die for. They come in a thick, velvet matte packaging that would look amazing on your vanity.

I’m interested in picking up one of these blushes, probably a peachy or mauvy pink tone.

Kylie Cosmetics Valentine’s Day Collection

Did you think this was Colourpop again? Many people are comparing this collection’s vibe to Colourpop’s and it’s easy to see the similarities. But no, it’s a Kylie Cosmetics collection. There’s an eyeshadow palette, lip kits, lashes, glosses, a highlighter, and blush sticks. The packaging on the blush sticks is so cute as they come in a cupid’s crush wrapper to open. Even the heart-shaped sticks themselves are beautiful.

Besides the blushes, nothing in particular stands out to me, but the lip glosses and lip kits come in really nice packaging as well. The glosses look pigmented, and the collection overall seems like it will sell well. Cute packaging really sells, if Colourpop is anything to go by.

Natash Denona Mini Crush

If you ever wanted to try Natasha Denona’s formula for a more affordable price, this palette might be for you. It comes with 5 pinky shades with both mattes and metallics. Unlike her other mini 5-pan palettes, this one also comes with a blending brush for the same price! But keep in mind this palette is based on her midi-size Love palette and some of the shades are the exact same from her bigger palette.

I think this would be a great way to try her formula, especially if you love pinks and reds. According to the comments, it’s already selling out in stores!

So what do you think? Have you purchased a Valentine’s themed collection before? Or, what are your thoughts on BH Cosmetics filling for bankruptcy? Let me know!

  1. I love the packaging on the Colorpop collection. it’s so cute and perfect for Valentine’s Day! While that color palette isn’t one that I usually gravitate to for eye makeup, I LOVE a bright red lip. There is something about a red lip that really elevates a look to the next level.
